OPENING MINDS, OPENING HEARTS
Evaluation of the Institute for Family Professionals Trauma Courses, Offered through Saint Joseph’s University
Through funding from the UWGPSNJ (United Way of Greater Pennsylvania and New Jersey), The Institute for Family Professionals (IFP) adapted their community-based professional development offerings on trauma into a series of three college courses to promote the trauma competence of early childhood educators.
The evaluation examined the impact of taking these courses on outcomes expected based on a theory of change developed for the intervention.
Participants were individually administered several questionnaires and shown videotaped vignettes of traumatic situations intended to elicit the extent to which they used a trauma perspective or “trauma lens.”
