I spend a lot of time writing about the brain, how it impacts our daily functioning. Sometimes I like to share information that may be a bit more scientific in scope, so you can see we substantiate what we say with evidence like the article linked below.
Neurons and astrocytes – new possibilities for cures
We know a regulated brain allows us to think and relate to others in life more effectively. We also recognize our brain states significantly affect our sense of time and decision-making.
It is exciting we are learning about new brain structures and elements of major influence in brain development and brain pathology.
We are indebted to the many researchers who are conducting studies as they discover and share many aspects of how neurons relate to each other and how synapses really work.
Some of the latest discoveries include star-shaped cells called astrocytes, which seem to be prominent in communication processes within the brain.
From these studies, we may be on the verge of understanding implications regarding some of our neurological deficits and diseases. This information offers incredible potential for finding treatments and possible cures for some devastating diseases—even possible innovations in the treatment of mental illness.
I realize that research may be difficult to understand.
However, so much of what we are learning is contingent on the everyday work of some very talented and dedicated researchers; so, in a small way, I want to acknowledge some of their work by linking to the article below.
This is only one of many research projects currently being conducted.
Take a moment to view the video.
In this particular article, the video presented is a clear illustration of what researchers are discovering about astrocytes and their impact in the brain.
It is truly remarkable to see how the nuances of the brain chemicals work together. Truly we have amazing brains, and we have yet to unleash their full potential and power.
