I typically do not post about politics or political events but there are so many challenges and issues related to our leadership and our country that has affected so many aspects of our society. Also, I reflect on the collective trauma has been heightened by some of the events that we have experienced in recent days.
However, in light of the fears, chaos, concerns and predictions that were circulating about this past inauguration we need to note that some of the aspects of it were so positive. The main encouragement was that we did not have to contend with or witness more violence, disruption or danger for those in attendance when just two weeks ago our Capitol was under siege. What a transformation in just a few weeks!
What I also was inspired by was the diversity of individuals involved in the entire event. There were individuals who were in the events from many different parts of our culture. I appreciated the evening event of Americans coming from many professions, many cultural backgrounds, different areas of the country and how they were matched to meaningful artistry and music written to acknowledge their heritage and role in our society.
Thirdly there was the theme of our need for unity in our country. Three former Presidents communicated their confidence in our country, our people and our potential to overcome many very serious issues. They offered their support for the next administration and were willing to help in any way they could. It was a display of a connection to our past and to a unified leadership dynamic in our government.

I also think that the effect of the day was both calming and hopeful. With the horror of COVID-19 and such a nation divided along with the threat of the siege of our government, I believe this day was a palpable relief to the anxiety that we have been experiencing.
I appreciate all those who were protecting the event, the design of the entire day, the inclusion of so many diverse individuals, the familiar patriotism, the themes and the overall joining of Americans together. We face a dark set of circumstances and situations that will need much work, resources and an intentional approach that will help us all to recover and move forward in this country. I appreciate the goodness of all that happened and the threats that did not.
I hope this will be a launching of a new day where we will find ways to bring healing and hope to all Americans who have been impacted by the adversities of COVID-19 and so much more. I recognize there are many barriers, hurdles and challenges but new beginnings always feel like there is hope and help on the way! I wish President Biden and Vice President Harris all the best of wisdom and success as they lead our country through the next steps of recovery and growth!
