Satine Phoenix is a young woman who was sexually abused as a child. The impact of this nine years of abuse was devastating to her. It is not an uncommon story in our society which is extremely sad. However stories like Satine’s are important to hear as often they inspire others to get the help that they need. Satine is leading by example and working diligently to recover from her abuse, reclaim her power, rediscover her strengths and reestablish her personhood.
Here is a link to her story as she tells it and as it is recorded by Jessica Migala
For all those women who have had similar experiences to Satine’s I urge you to seek the support and help you need. The impact of sexual abuse can be life-dominating emotionally, relationally and physically. The process of reclaiming one’s power needs lasting support from family, good friends and quality trauma-informed therapists.
I admire the courage of Satine to tell her story. She is brave and courageous to be so vulnerable. It appears she is on her way to reclaiming her power while having a huge impact on so many lives she will touch in her sphere of influence. As tragic as her story is, she is a living example of how one can recover, heal and eventually lead a productive life.
Congratulations to Satine! I hope her story will continue to help those who have had like experiences to reclaim their power and discover a healthy life.
