This week, Lakeside has been partnering with a number of great organizations to implement The Greater Philadelphia Trauma Training Conference.
The Conference Title: Envisioning Interprofessional Practice to Improve Outcomes for Children
The conference is being held at Jefferson University, East Falls Campus (formerly Philadelphia University now merged with Thomas Jefferson University).
This is the first event of its kind in Philadelphia, and we have taken a rather unique approach to bring varied professions together for basic trauma information then afterward, will convene cross-professionally so that by the end of the week we will have formulated a systems approach to case studies creating interprofessional strategies.
A unique and innovative experience
This week’s conference has been described as a unique conference that provides intensive, discipline-specific trauma training, exposure to innovative practice models, and opportunities for cross-sector, inter-professional case discussion and treatment planning. The hope is to grow and strengthen the Greater Philadelphia region’s trauma-informed workforce and ultimately to improve health and educational outcomes for children.
Additionally, the conference offers afternoon workshops that provide information on the cutting edge of some of the leading research and programs in trauma informed care for children, families and others who are trauma-impacted.
Over 400 professionals are attending this conference, including those from Lakeside.
I believe this conference experience urges forward a new momentum for system-wide trauma-informed care in our region. I am personally very excited by this launching event. I would love to see this type of conference in every major city in the country. To be trauma informed will raise awareness, provide new levels of support, and create positive change in the culture of our systems of care.
We are very grateful for so many experts who were willing to present here, and to equip our systems of care with new tools for helping trauma-impacted individuals.
I am sure this conference will inspire many individuals to consider their role in trauma-informed care. I thank all those who are involved that have made this significant event possible.
