Many of us have exciting goals and plans for the year to come. At Lakeside, we, too, are excited about what lies ahead for us in 2018. Here are six reasons why:
-
- Our schools are thriving
- We have been recognized as one of the innovators of trauma-informed educational environments
- Our In-School Counselor Program has continued to grow in scope as more and more school districts are requesting more counselors in their schools
- Our Trauma-Informed Training and our Neurologic Initiative for Schools have grown immensely
Reason 5: the coming release of our online training in Neurologic.
An exciting and new dimension of Lakeside will be its online, on-demand release of two of our trauma-informed training courses.
In the next few weeks, we will be releasing our Neurologic intensive training and our coaching sessions for teachers.
These courses will provide an opportunity for teachers to understand the brain-based and neuroscientific aspects of managing their students and classroom environments. It will help them understand how to help their students regulate so they can facilitate better learning environments in how they structure their classes.
Rather than being confined to a group setting, this on-demand training will be available online right in teachers’ homes. Imagine the convenience and ease of accessibility for our teachers who want to expand their understanding and skills in this area!
Reason 6: the coming release of the first in a series of comprehensive trauma training courses for professionals.
The Enhancing Trauma Awareness Course will feature 20 modules of information, principles and concepts to help professionals understand the basics of trauma, including how the brain reacts to traumatic events.
The course is rich with valuable information and sets the stage for more sophisticated courses to come later this year.
We intend to offer a competency in trauma certification for professionals who complete all 3 courses. From what I have understood from the trauma-training industry, our training will provide a thorough and deep understanding of knowledge, understanding and skills for those who deal with trauma-impacted individuals.
We set high standards.
It is our hope we will be setting a high standard for trauma-training for professionals.
We have Beta-tested our courses, and received encouraging feedback.
We hope to set a national standard for quality trauma-training and be a part of the trauma-informed movement to enhance the awareness and skills of professionals who are caring for trauma-impacted individuals.
We are truly excited to be on the forefront of trauma-informed care for school staff and trauma professionals.
