Preventing Childhood Trauma and its Impact Across the Lifespan:
An Interprofessional Agenda for Providers, Advocates, Policy Makers, and Community Members
As trauma professionals in Philadelphia, we are extremely excited about the 2nd Annual Philadelphia Trauma Training Conference.
The conference will be held at Thomas Jefferson University, East Falls Campus and is sponsored by the Community and Trauma Counseling Program of the University.
Professionals from all over the region will be together from July 23-25 to experience the keynote addresses, workshops, networking, and related activities that will provide them with new information and connection to colleagues who serve trauma-impacted individuals.
The Second Annual Philadelphia Trauma Training Conference will provide an intensive, collaborative training experience to providers, educators, and leaders across health, education, and social service disciplines, as well as to community members invested in the health of their families, neighborhoods, and cities.
The conference aims to develop and build trauma knowledge and competencies across disciplines, professions and workforce sectors including:
- Medical/Healthcare
- Young Children (ages 0-5)
- K-12 Schools and Systems
- Justice System
- Child Welfare
- Higher Education
- Community Members (Caregivers, Parents, Block Captains, among others)
- Philanthropic Supporters
- Faith Based (Leaders, Organizations: Will attend the Day 1 workshops with those in the Community track)
- Policy Makers and Advocates (Will attend the Day 1 workshops which best align with their duties and interests)
I have been privileged to serve on the planning committee of this conference.
We have been working for almost a year to make sure that this experience will be informative and empowering for all those who attend.
It is our hope that this trauma conference will be a great learning experience and encouragement to those who are dealing with so many in their care who need hope, healing and new options for their lives.
