For nearly 60 years, Lakeside has been working with thousands of students in our region who have had some unique needs and learning problems. We have been consistent in building quality relationships with our students, and we utilize the latest research in our programs and strategies to help them to become successful in school and in life.
But new neurological research has helped Lakeside’s professional staff even more
Emerging neurological research has shown strategies to help students regulate their brains, which will help in their being able to learn in the classroom. Often, teachers do not have the knowledge or resources to draw upon to provide an environment to maximize the capacity of their students to learn more effectively.
As we have worked with our own [four] schools and other schools in our region, we have used a variety of brain breaks and educational activities to help teachers become more aware of some of the most effective strategies for brain regulation. These strategies result from extensive research and are based on the work of Dr. Bruce Perry, Senior Fellow of the Child Trauma Academy.
We have worked diligently to compile what we call “brain breaks,” as well as other activities for students that are brain based. This research has been published in a resource book entitled 101 Brain Breaks & Brain Based Educational Activities.
This is an easy-read tool for teachers and others who work with students who need quick access to these activities for consistent brain regulation. There are breathing exercises, focus activities, energizing activities, body movement, and more that will help students take a break from the rigor of academic classes and prepare their brains for learning.
Real help for teachers and those who work with students
If you work with students and need a succinct guide to brain based activities, this is an excellent resource for you and your students. I really am excited about this book and the impact it can have in our classrooms and in the lives of our students.
If you want to purchase a copy of 101 Brain Breaks and Brain Based Educational Activities, please go to Lakeside’s web site at www.lakesidelink.com and order your copy. It will be an invaluable reference guide for your students.
